camper

sorry for the delay, but I think might be useful:

Peloponnese in camper made Dagne and Luke
1 to 22 August 2010

Luke 30 years (31 during holidays),
Dagne 29 years
Camper CI Carioca 2 to 12 years

July 30
departure at 16:40 from Montichiari (Bs) - arrival at Fermo (AP).

good time, enough freedom highway. Without A sure sign of fake parking areas which are then, in fact, private parking expensive (20 € / night).

July 31
standing start - fly to Bari in the evening

beautiful weather, highway traffic already more than yesterday (now day by black dot). Arrival in Bari 18 hours, no parking area found with GPS, night at the port. Barely slept.

August 1
flights from Bari ferry with Superfast

beautiful weather, great camper on board, electricity, hot showers, all right! Started 12 hours from Bari to Patras and finish the day after 4:30 hours.
booker in February, we paid € 270 return.

August 2
departure from Patras - Arrival in Kalogria

N 38.1622 - E 021.36602

beautiful weather, we decided to make the yolks of the Peloponnese counterclockwise, after reading several travel diaries. So we will always be a sea view and it seems that the best and most memorable beaches are south-east.
Kalogria is a beautiful sandy beach, with chemical toilet (for those with the box is good), we were in 6 Italian camper.
The special is the huge dune in the background! Very windy, no water.

August 3
departure from Kalogria - Arrival in Kalonero

N 37298 ; - E 021.69522

Morning 8:30 am to Olympia, arriving in about 1.5 hours. Site easy to find, with mega parking. We recommend the ticket € 9 that includes the ruins and the museum (instead of € 6 +6).
The afternoon we left for Kalonero, resting on the beach just outside the village: dirty beach, the sea is not beautiful, nice fences of turtle eggs (Caretta-cart) but they were already hatched (the date shown 10 - 7-10).
Quiet night, Greek music in the distance.

August 4
departure from Kalonero - arrival at Romanos

36.98961 N - 021.64906 E

Depart in the morning to the beach Voidokilla, arrival in the morning, though little detail but the Greeks are already proving to be very courteous.
The beach is wonderful, very crowded, and you can not stay the night with the campers (signs indicate various scattered 147 € fine per person).
We asked the only camper there, a German with 5 guys following, with guidance from the Peloponnese for campers, complete with details of parking, which has given us to rest in Romanos, little away from there.
We moved towards the evening and found a wonderful place, great beach, kilometers, completely empty. Ocean wonderful, slightly sparkling, wind (in fact we have flown a kite), camper paradise tolerated and, on some open spaces between the rocks.
We had to stop one more night, but we had not run in the real winding roads of the Peloponnese, and then the next morning we left.

August 5
departure from Romanos - Arrival in Petaluma

N 36.98195 - E 021.92851

reluctantly let Romanos and we head south, with the intention of stopping at different villages of the "first finger".
We went to Pylos, Methoni then (very very crowded), Corona (worse than before) and considering the conditions of black water, we opted for a cheap campsite in Petaluma. It is not something we recommend a stop, but for 21 € we sanitized properly!

August 6
departure from Petaluma - Arrival in Itilo

N 36.69606 - 022.3779 E

parties towards Kalamata (Kalamata from sallonicco ... .10 days I devoured the strike ... cit. Vinicio Capossela), a city very big and ugly, but with so many supermarkets. (Of course there is the LIDL, kings of convenience).
Stop and then lunch at Agios Nicolas Kardamyli a beautiful village that is worth a visit!
In the evening stop at Itilo Marina, where we followed the signs to free parking for motor homes.
It 'a good rest before tackling the Mani, the park is isolated from the country, free of charge, place the water and dirt. We later discovered that they own a restaurant, who is happy to have you for dinner ....
So we've made them happy, spending € 28.5 for a good dinner!
always windy night in the company of four campers and two French eng.

August 7
departure from ITIL - arrival in Porto Kagio

N 36.42794 - E 022.48693

Finally in HANDS! Fantastic! Dry, scratchy, dry, planting shade it .... But wonderful!
Breathtaking scenery, cliffs, coves different. ... BEAUTIFUL!
Kagio We arrived in Porto, where the road ends and you are forced to run on the beach. ... Camper off road!
There has been a woman look like a Kapo, who made us park for free water, with the obligation to visit her in Porto Taverna.
Beautiful day at the beach, we have inflated our boat and sailed the seas of the Gulf! Port tavern the evening, none of which spent € 24.5.
also would love to stay another day ... instead we opt to share the next day for Kapo partnership which is 5 km away ....

August 8
departure from Porto Kagio - Arrival in Cape Tenaro

36.40222 N - 022.48604 E

The southernmost tip of Europe ... what a show!
at the car park below us we are a wonderful sea!
not by chance that somebody calls it the POOL OF ULYSSES: a narrow rocky cove, accessible by a steep but very short, fantastic!
Few people, strong wind, and donkey who takes the shadow of our campers.
We had a 30 min walk to the lighthouse, the limit point of the continent, recommend the place even if one is disappointed that there are no explanatory signs.
We met Piero and Alba, 2 nice fellow campers and lick!
also would love to stay another day ...

August 9
departure from Cape Tenaro - arrive in Monemvasia

N 36.68796 - E 023.03648

at Cape Tenaro recommend the east coast, and then not returning Areopoli, through Kotrona . Wonderful road that other views of the Mani.
Githio Then we arrive at, horrible, dirty and messy, and finally we Guindi to Monenvasia. Here we begin to suffer from a stifling heat-mad! Recommended in the bathroom very clean water and full of life close to Monemvasia old, one of the most beautiful backdrops and we have met bright.
The old town of Monemvasia because of the heat we decided to visit at sunset, you can reach on foot or by bus:-Byzantine and the positive, wonderful, even if completely converted into hotels, holiday homes and businesses . To be seen before sunset because then the evening is very dark!
Come back to the camper we had a surprise visit to the Police, who has transcribed the plates of the camper and asked us to move, you could not stay the night (we were really so many RV) parked just before the bridge left.
We have therefore directed out of the country, but we were wrong, it was sufficient to move the port ....

10 and 11 August
departure from Monemvasia - arrival on the island of Elafonissi

36.47685 N - 022.97495 E

After several hypotheses, we decided to ferry up Elafonissi.
ferry cost € 46 return, including an obligation then to stay in the one camp.
Almost Italian is a colony of campers, if you have lost a friend on his white dinosaur with satellite dish and sky to find it there.
Simos The camp is beautiful and well organized, no shade for the campers, but served with a good self-service, in addition to free connection by bus to the port.
There are two beaches to see, and Simos PANAGRIA: a Caribbean show! Colors blue water and white sand and pink. ... A dream come true!
loooong crowded!! Cost of the camp site € 28 per night.

12 and 13 August
departure from Elafonissi - Arrival in Vinglafia

N 36.52247 - E 022.98341

The sea is so beautiful that we decided to prolong the stay in this area provided another 2 days beyond the island , once on land, in this tiny village where there is the Oasis Tavern and Andrea Markus, a good rest area complete with hot showers and exhaust air to the price only to have dinner there.
beautiful beach, with a pond behind it ... beautiful!
two excellent dinners, spent 25 € and 22 € per night!
Here we met Umberto and Paolo, family camper novice sailors but experts have told us many interesting things about camping and sailing Greece, since it is 15 years that are exploring!

August 14
departure from Vinglafia - arrival at Mistra (Sparta)

N 37.07644 - E 022.36907

Start the morning with calm, stop in Piltra, under the eucalyptus trees with a wonderful break at last a bit 'windy!
In the water are the remains of the Asopos! Booyah!
So we made one other day at the beach to get to Mistra in the evening, spend the night only to see the city early in the morning.
RV not recommended, because besides not being allowed is was loud, but there is a camp outside the town ....

August 15
departure from Mistra - arrival in Nafplio

37.56302 N - 022.80036 E

All the museums and ruins are free! We took advantage ....
The early morning visit to Mistra: we visited the Lower Town and then leave and return from the high-low door (RV parking).
It 's a great site for both the landscape for the remains, as only well-preserved churches, one of which is still inhabited by monks.
Lunch on the way to Nafplio (shade and cool) and then in the late afternoon visit to Mycenae: what can we say? WONDERFUL!
also visit the museum as well as the tomb of Agamemnon, which is 300 meters from the main site but it's really impressive!
the evening arrival in Nafplio and stop at the public beach under the castle bathroom immediate camper hot, sleepless night!

August 16
departure and return Nauplius

N 37.56302 ; - E 022.80036

day visit the city and the nearby beach of Tolo, that we did not like! In the evening we returned to the parking lot the night before and the heat was still unbearable!

August 17
BIRTHDAY LUCA
departure from Nafplio - arriving at about Nepatia

37.54825 N - 023.28947 E

departure to Epidaurus, visit the site! (8 €)
Basically it's great theater, still intact, but the rest of the site is that you can not look at a building site! Museum painful!
the evening arrival in this remote village in the Gulf of Epidaurus, attended only by Greeks! Only a single bar and a tavern where we ate really well, so for only € 25.5.
cool and breezy night, finally!

August 18
departure from Nepatia - Arrival in Ermioni

N 37.38559 - E 023.24941

Start early, around the peninsula of Methana, with a walk up the volcano!
Methana Peninsula Spa is a beautiful but little access to the sea and roads strettine! The afternoon visit to Poros (0.8 € ferry), absolutely we did not like, chaotic, a mega port and just: but we were walking, we could not visit the north.
Ermioni tourist town, economical, quiet dinner with pita and night at the port.

August 19
departure from Ermioni - fly to Almir

N 37.85345 - E 023.00238

Departure Wing morning, swimming in beaches Kubeta (nice, big and little-used) and Agios Emilianos (beautiful, crowded and full of ita).
beautiful road but do not resort preliminary matter to see some coves.
Arrive Almir, camper parking close to the French, the only place where we found the sea dirty! Night noises ...

August 20
departure from Almir - Arrival at Lake Perachora

N 38.03263 - E 022.87377

Depart in the morning to visit the Corinth Canal and spectacular! Sliced \u200b\u200b6 km of land, to a height of 80 meters and a width of 24, we have witnessed the passage of an oil-driven, wow!
Under council routard we went to Lake Perachora: fantastic!
is not a real lake, but a bay with a very narrow access to the sea! Clean water, beach, few people mostly from the site.
Hire Visit the ruins, beautiful!
Quiet night, windy, along with 4 other campers.

August 21
departure from Perachora - Arrival in Lamitri

N 38.31187 - E 021.99287

Depart in the morning to train with destination to rack Diakopto Kalavryta! But the cost of 19 € / pers made us think again.
So we headed to Trapeze, where we wanted to stay but there are signs prohibiting!
So reluctantly in the evening we moved a few miles Lamitri, a tiny village, near the sea.
In this area there are few beaches, difficult access, but always beautiful but cold sea!
The special evening dinner at a restaurant that we allowed ourselves, eating fish chosen and spending € 47.

August 22
Lamitri departure from Patras.

morning on the beach, then unfortunately the direction of Patras for a ferry back.

GENERAL

  1. Peloponnese i love! Too good! We will return! It 's a peninsula that reserve emotions, especially for those of us who love the free parking!
  2. best part: Hands and Elafonissi.
  3. best places for campers: Romanos, Vinglafia and Lake Perachora.
  4. cellars where you spend too little to eat a bit 'the same things, but the supermarkets do not always spend as in Italy.
  5. Greeks wonderful people, kind, helpful, hospitable, courteous, smiling.
  6. Roads all feasible, except perhaps for some branch of it too ....
  7. Camperisti Italians increasingly jocks, but overall we found a few teams.
  8. Sore dirt and carelessness of many beaches.
  9. Some of the archeological sites we have found enough left to themselves.
  10. weather warm but ventilated, except for 2 days at 42 degrees to Nauplius!
  11. diesel costs the same as in Italy, gasoline much more!
  12. If you know little English, everyone here are trying to understand!
